A child is in serious condition after he fell off a ride at the fair this weekend.
We're told a seven year old child was seriously injured after falling off the skyride.
Fair officials tell us it was inspected and reopened the next day.
They also say, safety remains their number one concern.
Billy Orr with the Mississippi Fair Commission tells us, when it comes to the rides, inspectors are sure to dot their I's and cross their T's.
"Every piece, every bolt, every screw. They inspect it after that each day." says Orr
While Orr says he cannot speak on Friday night's incident in specific, if there is something wrong with a ride, there is a process before a ride is reopened.
"They inspect it, then they certify what was wrong, then they fix and correct it."
"Inspector tells us, it's ready to go, we let it go." adds Orr
He also tells us each ride is monitored individually.
"The sign is there, the company has someone there checking it. The height, age, weight, whatever. They're on every ride." says Orr
The mother of the child tells us her son is recovering at UMC, where he remains in the ICU.
