The Milligan women's volleyball team blasted by Appalachian Athletic Conference foe, Point University, in Thursday night's match-up 3-0.
In the first set, Point jumped ahead to an early 8-1 lead after six unanswered points allowed by the Buffaloes. Later in the set, Milligan scored five points in a row to bring the score to 12-9 in favor of the Skyhawks. Milligan would eventually take the lead after another 5-0 run to bring the Buffaloes ahead 18-17. After holding the Skyhawks to just two points the rest of the set, Milligan took the victory, 25-19.
The second and third sets proved to be offensively dominated by Milligan. After an 11 point streak in the second set, the Buffaloes used the momentum to win the set 25-13. The third set saw the Buffaloes take an quick 15-8 lead. After six Buffalo kills and three Skyhawk errors, the Buffaloes sealed the victory with a 25-12 win.
On the night, Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) gave 35 assists which aided in 17 Samantha Bruinius (Tinley Park, IL.) kills as well as six kills by Emilee Linkous (Morristown, Tenn.). Kayla Moore (Whittier, N.C.) and Charlie Bateman (Jefferson City, Tenn.) had five and three kills apiece.
Tonight's win puts the Lady Buffaloes record 4-6 in the AAC and 9-16 overall.
The Buffaloes will travel to Cleveland, Ga. to face Truett-McConnell College in an AAC match-up. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
