July 18, 2012, 51-year-old Robert McCoy was shot to death in a Jackson home.
His family tells us they're still grieving, and until a suspect is behind bars, they won't have closure.
"We refuse to allow this man's death to be just considered a number," says Bishop Henry Hankins of Word of Truth Kingdom Church.
It's been a trying year for the Bishop's church community, especially Chastity McCoy. Her husband of 11 years is gone.
"All I had to do in the morning basically was wake up!" she says. "He ironed my clothes, he cooked, he cleaned, he rolled my hair, he did everything for me."
"That's the type of person he was," says Bishop Hankins.
Now, they feel stuck. McCoy says the investigation seems to have hit a road block. The man who was arrested after the shooting death is free.
She was pregnant when her husband was killed. Robert never met his namesake, Robert Jr.
"You can tell he's going to be strong-willed like his daddy," she says.
Until they get the phone call from law enforcement that the killer is caught, they'll wait and pray.
"We refuse to allow his legacy to die. In Jesus' name, Amen."
If you know anything about the July 2012 shooting death of Robert McCoy, please call law enforcement.
