GATE CITY, VA (WJHL) -

A suspect is on the loose after deputies say a he attacked a woman in her home on Reed Hollow Road in Gate City. 

Scott County Sheriff's deputies told News Channel 11 the woman was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to investigators, it happened around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday night. A man got inside the home and assaulted woman with a weapon. 

A suspect has not been captured at this time.

The victim was home alone at the time of the attack. 

Scott County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation. If you have any information that can help deputies locate the suspect or if you saw anyone suspicious in the area, call the sheriff's office at (276) 386-7679.
