RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Raleigh woman was stabbed Wednesday in the 300 block of Buck Jones Road.

Yolanda Purcell, 26, was transported to Rex Hospital after beings stabbed Wednesday around 5:15 p.m. by 49-year-old John Frederick Jenkins.

After being transported to Rex in a private vehicle, EMS transferred Purcell to WakeMed.

Jenkins was detained at the scene and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and with attempted murder.

Police say Purcell and Jenkins knew each other prior to the incident.
