RALEIGH, N.C. -

Vice President Joe Biden has postponed a visit to North Carolina for early next week that included a Durham fundraiser scheduled in part to help U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan's re-election bid next year.

A spokeswoman for the vice president confirmed Thursday the visit to North Carolina had been delayed to a later date.

Biden was scheduled to speak at a luncheon at the Washington Duke Inn. Event proceeds were to go to a committee for Hagan, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the state Democratic Party.

It's wasn't immediately clear exactly when the event would be re-scheduled.
