Police say a man has been charged with first-degree murder after his girlfriend was set on fire.
    
Memphis police said 57-year-old Gregory Powell flagged down officers on Friday night and told them he had set his girlfriend on fire in a home.
    
Officers who entered the house said they observed a strong odor of smoke and gas. Officers found the woman in the bathroom with severe burns all over her body.
    
The woman died at the scene. She has not been identified.
    
Powell has a court appearance scheduled for Monday. Online court records do not show if he has a lawyer.
