The Milligan College men’s and women’s basketball teams were both voted into top spots in this year’s AAC preseason poll.
The preseason rankings were decided by coaches who voted on the teams. Each first place vote earned a team 10 points. A second place vote earned 9 points and so on.
The women’s basketball team this year has been voted to receive the number one ranking in the conference tied with Tennessee Wesleyan College at 113 points. Union College came in second with a total of 96 points, followed by Reinhardt at 82 points. Virginia Intermont would take fifth place at 77 points.
Last year the Lady Buffaloes won the AAC regular-season championship with a 16-2 record. However, the Lady Buffaloes fell in their second game of the AAC Tournament 61-52. The 2014 women’s tournament will take place Feb. 26-March 1 at the MeadowView Marriot in Kingsport, Tenn.
