ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) -

Sunday at 9am, volunteer firefighters, along with EMS and the Carter County Sheriff's department responded to a fire at 1427 Riverview Drive.

"Subsequently to clearing the scene, getting the fire knocked down we did discover one female, Tracy Parsons, age 52, who was in the house who wasn't able to escape," Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes said.

Before firefighters arrived four people passed by the house, saw smoke, went inside and rescued Parson's daughter and grandson.

We spoke with one of the rescuers today, he said he was too shaken up to speak on camera but said their main concern right now is prayers for the family.

The daughter and grandson escaped with no injuries.

Mathes said from what they can tell so far, the fire started in the kitchen around the stove.
