Rally held to save Vidant Pungo Hospital

Posted: Updated:
BELHAVEN, N.C. - More people stand up in Belhaven to try and save Vidant Pungo Hospital.

Supporters came together to protest at the municipal building on Main Street. They're mad and worried about the fact that Vidant is going to close their hospital in a few months.

The Belhaven mayor took the stage Wednesday and called Vidant out. He says moving the Pungo Hospital is all about money.

Vidant disagrees, saying they are opening a 24-7 care center in place of the Pungo Hospital. They say it will be able to do everything the hospital could do, except for housing patients overnight.
