Botetourt Co. Schools lifts lockdown at Lord Botetourt H.S.

BOTETOURT COUNTY, VA -

Update 1:30 p.m.

A spokesperson with Botetourt County Schools tells WSLS the "limited lockdown" has been lifted.

The school system, in a press release today, says they conducted a lockdown at 10:30 a.m. after a written bomb threat was found.

The building was not evacuated after a threat assessment was conducted by school administration and the school resource officer.

The school division went on to say in the release:

"After a thorough search of the building and grounds was conducted by school staff, Botetourt County Sheriff's deputies, and other cooperating agencies, no evidence of a bomb or other threat was found."

The lockdown ended around 1:15 p.m.

UPDATE:

According to a spokesperson with the school, the students are in their classrooms and police are on the scene investigating.

 

According to Sheriff Sprinkle of Botetourt County, a bomb threat note was found in one of the high school bathrooms.

The school is on a "limited" lock down and police are on the scene investigating.

Sheriff Sprinkle does not know the school's policy and could not speak on what exactly a "limited" lock down is.

No further information at this time.
