BEDFORD -

Bedford Landings owners Karen and Jack Phillips are excited about their dream becoming a reality.

The couple started planning the bed & breakfast in 2006. Construction began in 2012. Crews are beginning the finishing touches on the property.

It is located next to the Smith Mountain Lake Airport runway.

Having new ownership at the airport is exciting for the Phillips. Gas prices have already come down and there are plans to install 24 hour fuel pumps in January 2014. There are also plans to extend the runway by one thousand feet. That extension would allow the airport to accommodate small jets.

Jack and Karen have already reached out to others in the community regarding partnerships and package deals for the future.

The Phillips hope to be taking reservations by early December.
