Father, marine charged with assaulting infant daughter

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -

An Onslow County father and marine is in jail, accused of assaulting his 2-month-old daughter.

On Thursday, Onslow County deputies arrested 24-year-old Adam Kenneth Patten on Camp Lejeune. Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown tells 9 On Your Side that Patten is a marine.

Reports say Patten seriously injured his two-month-old daughter on four separate occasions. During one incident investigators say Patten fractured his daughter’s elbow and foot as he was taking her out of a car seat. They say he injured her feet and leg while he was changing her diaper and fractured her ribs because he squeezed her too hard.

Patten is charged with four counts of Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury. He’s in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $35,000 secured bond.
