Davidson's featured in Marketplace Fairness Act campaign

ROANOKE -

A longtime Roanoke business is being featured in a new ad campaign on the Marketplace Fairness Act, better known as the Internet sales tax bill.

Larry Davidson, the owner of the men's clothing store Davidson's in downtown Roanoke, is seen in the ad asking Congress to pass the long discussed bill.

It would require online companies to collect state sales tax similar to what brick and mortar businesses already do.

The bill stalled after passing the Senate in the spring.

Davidson is happy to be part of the campaign, but said he's only a small part.

"I don't think my face or my voice will have much impact," he said. "I think the message itself will be the culmination of a lot of effort to bring this issue to the forefront."

The ad will be running all this week on WSLS 10.
