Downtown Moneta sees growth

MONETA -

Downtown Moneta has seen some growth especially after the economy improved.

Its apartments right now are completely filled and to meet with the demand developers are planning a new building that will be located next to Sears. It'll have sixteen apartments on top and on the bottom will be retail shops.

Businesses are also seeing a boost too.

"I think the economy is better this year than last year I think people had an unsure feeling of what was going on and it seems this year people are more relaxed and we have seen a turn up in business," says Michelle Aznavorian, owner of Antique Mall at Mayberry and developer at Downtown Moneta.

Jody Lyons of Lyons Team Realtors says some of the reasons for growth is because of the economy and better marketing. They have several events that happen throughout the year that brings in people who wouldn't come to Downtown Moneta otherwise.

"We get people coming in all the time whenever we have events and it does help out with business," says Aznavorian.

The future plan for Downtown Moneta is to one day expand to six city blocks long.
