RALEIGH, N.C. -

Thanksgiving shopping has passed, Black Friday is over and, after tomorrow, Cyber Monday will be a thing of the past. So what will you do Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a global campaign that encourages charitable giving to support nonprofit organizations and their missions.

In 2012, 2,500 partners from all 50 states participated in the Giving Tuesday campaign. This year, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is celebrating its sixth anniversary of raising awareness and funds for scientific research surrounding women's cancers by participating in the global campaign.

"We are proud to celebrate our sixth anniversary as an organization by participating in Giving Tuesday, a day that embodies the true giving spirit of the holiday season," said Sue Donohoe, executive director of  KYCF. "Just as Coach Yow gave so freely to others, we hope you will take the opportunity to learn more about and support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund on this milestone date."

KYCF is named for former North Carolina State University women's basketball coach Kay Yow, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 before succumbing to the disease in 2009.

To date, KYCF has supported more than $2.6 million in women's cancer research through grants and related programs focused on women's cancers.

To make a donation to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, visit the KYCF website or text 4Kay to 85944 and reply "yes" to confirm standard gift of $10.
