Slick roadways and hazardous driving conditions are concerning drivers.

"Right now I'm kinda scared because it's wet and rainy and I've heard about the ice storms coming," says concerned driver, Erta Richards.

The Metro area is expected to see up to four inches of rain throughout the weekend, according to News Channel 12's meteorologists.

Officials with the Mississippi Department of Transportation are prepared for the worst, "We have strategically placed maintenance facilities that have stockpiles full of deicing materials and trucks to deploy and carry those materials to the locations."

The accidents are already happening. We came upon a crash while heading back to our studios. The passenger in the SUV tells us they hydroplaned off the highway, "I got scared almost cried and my son cried too because he didn't think this was going to happen."

Mississippi Highway Patrol urges people to stay off the highways this weekend and if you need to drive then use caution.
