Northwestern Counties of Mississippi, such as Humphreys and Sharkey Counties, are dealing with slick roads.
"I've been stepping on a lot of ice and there was a lot of ice on trash cans," describes one Humphreys County resident.
Icy roads have been reported in parts of Northern Mississippi. Drivers are urged to use caution when driving on bridges or overpasses
A security officer at a Mississippi Department of Transportation hub says officials were expecting it to be much worse.
"They were looking for it to be worse than it was, but nothing happened," says Security Officer Alfred Washington. Off to the west in Sharkey County, a bridge had to be closed. "Overnight the bridges started to freeze up and we've had to close the one here on Channel Street because we ran out of sand," says Alderman Calvin Stewart. The Storm Team 12 forecast shows the roads in the Northwestern Counties will remain slick and are expected to go downhill Monday night into Tuesday morning.
