    A Kingsport grandmother can't live in her own home tonight.That's because the house has been quarantined by Sheriff's deputies who say, without her knowledge, her grandson was making meth in the basement.Deputies said they found the lab after getting a tip that meth was being made in a home in the 4000 block of Potato Hill Road in Kingsport.

GLADE SPRING, VA (WJHL) -  
The mother of a Glade Spring sixth grader is facing charges after the child brought a loaded gun to school.    Glade Spring Middle School officials said a sixth grade student was unloading his school supplies just before 8 Morning and found the loaded gun his book bag and that he was totally unaware.
Crystal Dawn Chaffin, of Saltville, is charged with reckless handling of a firearm.    "Our investigation revealed the weapon was placed in the child's book bag over the weekend while the mother and child went into a store, apparently rather than leave the handgun in the vehicle, " said Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff Fred Newman. 

After the gun was found the student and his teacher immediately took the gun to administration who then called police.  Teachers and staff spoke to students to let them know what exactly was going on, but said at no point was anyone in danger.

"No one in danger or threatened in any kind of way that we are aware of. Of course, anytime you have a weapon on school property it's disconcerting and it's perplexing and and all of those things. It's unsettling at the very least so we are concerned about that but there was never a time there was a threat to any of our students," said Superintendent of Washington County, VA Schools Dr. Brian Ratliff.

The type of gun has not been released.
