A Yazoo County man is missing and the family is still looking for answers more than six years later..

The Edwards family claims the Yazoo County Sheriff's Department lost the evidence to their father's case.

They reported Jessie Curtis Edwards Sr. missing six years ago on November 5, 2007.

He was last seen on Highway 16 in Holly Bluff around 3 a.m. in the morning.

"Two young guys came to the house and they were beating on the door telling my sister that they see him up on the highway; he had walked," says son Gary Edwards.

The retired farmer was staying at his daughters house at night and going to a nursing home during the day.

The son tells News Channel 12 Jessie was in the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease.

The family says former Yazoo County Sheriff, Tommy Vaughn, was handling the case.

When Jacob Sheriff became the new sheriff, parts of the case file could not be found.

And Sheriff confirms this.

The family stopped actively searching three years ago, but they still have hope.

When News Channel 12 reached out to the current sheriff of Yazoo County he said the case is still open and the investigation will continue if more evidence is brought forward.

However, the case file is missing from the previous administration and it is no where to be found at the Sheriff's Department..
