Vicksburg Police Investigators arrested Jamaro South, age 24, he is accused of shaking his child, resulting in death.
We have new information on a breaking story we've been covering out of Vicksburg. It's an update to a story we first brought you Monday night on WJTV News Channel 12. According to officials with the Vicksburg Police Department, there has been an arrest in the death of a 6-month-old infant. Investigators with the Vicksburg Police Department tell us the child's father, 24-year-old, Jamaro Tyrone South, has been charged with first-degree murder. At this point, the exact circumstances of the baby's death remain unclear, but investigators say South allegedly shook the baby. Here's what we learned on Monday. Police and paramedics with the Vicksburg Fire Department say they responded to a 911 call along Locust Street last Friday. When they arrived on the scene, police tell us the baby was not breathing. The infant was taken to River Region Hospital, but was later moved to the University Medical Center. Officials say the baby died Sunday afternoon. Right now, South is in the Warren County jail. He's expected to be in court on Wednesday, December 18th, for arraignment.
