Fair trade? Man tries paying for beer with 4-foot alligator

Posted: Updated:
MIAMI - A Florida man walks into a convenience store with an alligator and surveillance video captured the whole thing.

Police say the man seen carrying a 4-foot alligator is Fernando Aguilera.  They say he tried to trade it for a 12-pack of beer Tuesday at Miami's Santa Ana Market.

The store clerk Javier Herrera says he was worried the wild animal might get loose and bite one of his customers.  He asked him to leave but he wouldn't and a customer ended up calling 911.

"That crazy guy, he came to the store with this small alligator and tried to buy a couple of beers,” said Herrera.

Wildlife authorities cited him with illegally taking the animal from a park.  They say the animal was unharmed and they released it back into the wild.
