The Cru (4-4, 2-3 ASC) scored the first six points of the game and led the Choctaws (3-4, 1-3 ASC) 44-24 at halftime on the strength of their hot shooting, going 55% from the field and going 4-of-6 from the three-point line. With 8:10 remaining, MC cut the lead to 63-53 on a layup by Emmanuel Ezejiofo, but UMHB was able to run the clock out and clinch the victory.
MC was led by senior Lakin Ford with 20 points and eight rebounds. Ezejiofo was also in double-figures with 12 points. Jared Case came off the bench to score eight points with three assists and three steals. Rayner Fredrick had seven rebounds and four assists.
The Cru shot 40 free throws to MC's 22 in the game, led by Antonie Chaney, who went 9-of-10. James Allen led UMHB with 29 points. Jerard Graham (10 pts., 11 reb.) and Kitrick Bell (11 pts, 12 reb.).
The Choctaws will be back in action on January 2nd when they travel to Abilene, Texas to face Hardin-Simmons at 7:30 p.m.
