Bank robbery suspect just moment before the shooting of two police officers in Tupelo

--UPDATE12/24/13 1:26pm-- The City of Tupelo has announced that several local banks an businesses have joined together in pledging money as a reward for any information that can help in aiding police in the capture of the suspects wanted in connection of the bank robbery, that resulted in one police officer being shot and one police officer being killed. The total reward amount is now totaling $142,500.
--UPDATE 12/23/13 10:17 p.m.-- Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre confirmed Cpl. Gale Stauffer, 38, died from gunshot wounds after a bank robbery Monday afternoon.
Officers responded to a bank robbery in progress about 3:15 PM at the Gloster Creek branch of BancorpSouth on South Gloster Street, Aguirre said.
At a press conference, Aguirre said officers were confronted by at least one suspect when a shootout occurred near the intersection of Gloster and Carnation. Stauffer and another unidentified Tupelo officer were wounded. The 26 year-old officer was listed in critical condition Monday evening.
Investigators say they are looking for multiple suspects, who fled the scene. The suspects are possibly driving a white Yukon and/or a gray Dodge Stratus.
Surveillance video released to the media shows a black male, approximately 6' 3?, wearing a Carhartt hoodie, blue jeans, and a ski mask. The robber was armed with at least one gun. Police say there were multiple shell casings at the scene.
Tupelo police became aware of the officer being shot after a citizen used the injured officer’s police radio to call in an “officer down” distress call.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to arrest of the suspects.
Tupelo police, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI are all investigating the deadly bank robbery.

A police officer is dead and another officer is in critical condition after a shooting in Tupelo. The officers were responding to a bank robbery at the BancorpSouth in the Gloster Creek Village on South Gloster shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.
According to The Daily Journal, the officers confronted the suspects. One of the suspects shot the officers at point blank range. One officer was shot in the head. The report says 38 year old Gale Stauffer was killed. A 26 year old officer is in critical condition.
The suspects, possibly two or three, are said to be heavily armed. The suspects are not in custody. Police are searching for a white Yukon, and a gray Isuzu SUV.
City officials plan a news conference later tonight.
