WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A Johnson City man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on Christmas morning.

Sheriff Ed Graybeal says deputies stopped a 1993 Buick Regal around 12:30 a.m. on Kingsport Highway and Barker Road.

A K-9 alerted the deputy to the presence of narcotics in the car.

A quarter of a pound of marijuana was found in a hidden compartment inside the car.

The driver of the Buick, 21-year-old Lance D. Howell of Johnson City, was arrested for possession of schedule VI for resale and possession of a prohibited weapon. The car, drugs, and $795 were seized during the stop.

Howell was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where his bond has been set to $11,000.
