The suspect from the Tupelo bank robbery and officer shooting has apparently been shot and killed in Arizona.
The FBI and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety believe that this is the same individual who is responsible for the attempted bank robbery in Atlanta, the robbery of the BancorpSouth in Tupelo, the shooting of Officer Joseph Mayer, and the murder of Officer Gale Stauffer.
According to a statement from the FBI and the MDPS, the bank robbery in Phoenix, Arizona, occurred on Saturday approximately at 10 a.m. local Phoenix time. A male wearing a mask and displaying a handgun entered the bank, filled a bag with cash, and then fled. The robber encountered a Phoenix Police detective outside the bank and shots were fired. The bank robber was shot and killed in the exchange.
More details will be released Sunday morning during a press conference at 10 a.m. at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo.
