Wounded Tupelo Officer released from Hospital

A Tupelo police officer who was wounded during last week’s bank robbery and shooting, has been released from the hospital.
Officer Joseph Maher left the North Mississippi Medical Center, Tuesday morning to continue his recovery at home.
Maher was injured after being shot by Mario Garnett as he tried to get away from robbing a Tupelo BancorpSouth.
Sgt. Gale Stauffer was also shot by Garnett. He died from his gunshot wound.
Garnett was shot and killed during a bank robbery in Phoenix, Arizona over the weekend. He’s also been accused of an attempted bank robbery in Atlanta.
