Update:
Chasidy Wade's friend, Courtney Sanders, says doctors have allowed Chasidy to return home today. This comes after she had her first facial reconstructive surgery on Thursday. Sanders says she probably has more surgeries to come.

On December 30, around 6:30pm Monday evening, Chasidy Wade crashed her Acura TL into a tree.

Wade, age 19, was traveling on north on Highway 13, just south of Mendenhall when the accident happened. She lost control of her car trying to avoid hitting a cat that was in the road. She went across the southbound lane of Highway 13, and into a wooded area, crashing into a tree.

Chasidy was taken to Simpson General Hospital where she was later airlifted to UMC in critical condition.

Courtney Sanders, a close friend, says that Chasidy's condition has improved and that she is now in fair condition. Courtney says that her friend broke every bone in her face, but she is responsive and can recognize people. Sanders says Chasidy is undergoing her first facial reconstructive surgery Thursday at 12:45pm and that the procedure will take about twelve hours to complete.

The accident is still being investigated by the authorities.
