The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission says a female lion that escaped from her enclosure at the Survival Outreach Sanctuary was captured and taken to another area of the facility. Deputies and wildlife officers were on the lookout for the very big kitty Friday morning.
The Pasco Sheriff's Office says the 7-year-old African lion, named Savannah, was located shortly before 12:30 p.m. and was shot with a tranquilizer dart. After Savannah fell asleep, wildlife officials returned her to the enclosure. The lion never left sanctuary property and the public was not in any danger.
