Clinton Police Hold School Shooting Drill

Posted: Updated:
Clinton police get a lesson in how they should respond to a real-life school shooting.

Friday morning a group of armed officers rushed into Clinton high school as part of an active shooter drill.

The exercise centers around how authorities react to a report of a student who brought a handgun into the building.

Police have to locate and neutralize the armed suspect while making sure others students inside the school are safely evacuated.

Today’s drill took months of planning between school administrators, police and the FBI.

Organizers say they hope they never have to put into practice what they learned.

The Clinton fire department, Jackson police and MEMA participated in the exercise.

Officials tell us they are planning another drill in the future.
