Most of the cold weather is out of the area, but it is leaving it’s trace in the Fondren District.
Residents tell News Channel 12 pipes are bursting in the streets after the roads were iced over. St. Ann street is on a boil water alert from a pipe bursting in the road and flooding the area.
Shawn Reece with Reece Plumbing says his crews have already repaired more than forty residential pipes. "It’s basically just flooding. Pipes that aren’t insulated and exposed to weather, they will freeze and burst," says Reece.
Reece tells us many homes have flooded and ceilings have caved in, “The area isn’t used to cold weather like this.”
Reece says it will take the rest of the week to fix all of the damages to the residential pipes.
