JACKSON, MS - A fire destroys a city of Jackson maintenance building.  We’re told it took about 45 firefighters to contain the fire.

"I heard a loud explosion," recalls a city worker.

Robert Wilson walked outside and saw his nearby shop building engulfed with flames.

"I was scared, terrified," expresses Wilson.

Wilson is a custodian for the Capital City.  He tells us people are in and out of this warehouse every day.

"We meet there in the morning to get supplies and vans.  We deal with chemicals, cleaning chemicals, toiletry, plastering," explains Wilson.

Chief Fire Investigator Gregory Travis says the fire started shortly before 3:00 Thursday afternoon.  The preliminary investigation indicates the building is a total loss.

"Right now, we're trying to gather information and we'll go in and determine what may have constituted this fire," adds Travis.

Investigators say it is too early to determine a cause of the fire.  No one was injured.
