JACKSON, MS - Russo, the Chocolate Lab, enjoys having a second chance at life.  This was her three months ago when Cheshire Abbey rescuers saved her from her previous owners.

"She was found in South Jackson on a chain.  She was given slimy water to drink.  She had two puppies when they were rescued, I believe, they were adopted out fairly quickly,” explains Suezette Hankins.

Hankins is fostering the loveable lab.  When she got her, Russo weighed around 35-pounds.  Today, she's up to 50-pounds.

"This dog, from the very beginning, you can tell she's been starved for love.  It just breaks my heart what these dogs go through," expresses Hankins.

Hankins says Russo is a very playful dog.  And, she already knows some commands.

Although Hankins has fallen in love with Russo, she tells News Channel 12, she can't adopt her.

"A lab would be better suited for a larger yard than what I have," adds Hankins.

Hankins hopes someone will reach out to offer Russo a permanent, loving home.
