HINDS COUNTY - JACKSON -

It appears Jackson State University is set to hire a new head football coach.

Numerous published reports say former JSU and former NFL wide receiver Harold Jackson has been chosen for the job.

Footballscoop.com says sources have told them Jackson will be the school's new head coach.

MississippiState.247sports.com says the hire will become official Monday.

Jackson is originally from Hattiesburg. He played for JSU from 1965-1968, then for the LA Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks in the NFL until 1983.

He has served as wide receivers coach for the Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints. And he's held several more coaching positions at colleges across the country, including Kentucky and Baylor.
