Police bust filmmakers' fake robbery

Posted: Updated:
LOWELL, MA - The mask and the gun; it all looks so real.  Turns out, it was a little too lifelike for some police in Lowell, Massachusetts.

These amateur filmmakers were acting out a robbery scene when police officers bust into the convenience store with guns drawn.

The whole thing was caught on surveillance video as the police think they were breaking up an armed robbery.  That is until they talked to the amateur filmmakers and saw the script.

"At the time it wasn't too funny,” said Captain Kelly Richardson, Lowell Police Department.  “We laughed about it today, but someone could have been hurt doing this.  Common sense goes a long way. I believe that the kids learned their lesson."

The filmmakers say they’re hoping their next video is not quite as intense.
