ROGERSVILLE, TN (WJHL) - The owner of Hawkins County Memorial Gardens is in jail charged with forgery.

Since last fall we've been telling you about the ongoing complaints connected to the Rogersville cemetery and its owner Vickie Ringley.

People have complained to the Tennessee Funeral Board and the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office accusing the cemetery of making grieving families wait months and even years before getting headstones or markers placed on their loved ones' graves.

In connection to those unfulfilled contracts those agencies said it was a civil matter, but Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson confirms his deputies arrested Ringley this afternoon.

According to Det. Ken Sturgill, Ringley admitted today that she altered a $66.25 check that was made out to Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. According to the detective, Ringley whited out the name of the cemetery on a customer check and put her name there instead to make it look like the check was written out to her. The bank alerted deputies about the alleged forgery, Det. Sturgill said.

The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into Ringley is not over.

"Please be patient, we're still checking and as things progress we're going to continue to investigate what we can," Det. Sturgill said. "Rest assured, justice will be coming."
