The Big Orange Classic wrestling tournament--was another validation for coach  Tim Nininger's program at the home of the Knights.  Cave Spring must be considered a legit contender for a state team championship in the Group 3A ranks.  They won the Big Orange with two starters out with injuries.  And with five finalists and two champions they have big guns and depth.  Enough to outpoint 12-time defending state champion Christiansburg...and everybody else in the rugged 24 team field. Coach Nininger says this is the most closely knit team in his 15 years of coaching.  152 pounder Chase McDaniel, who won the title at the Big Orange by defeating previously undefeated defending state champion Michael Bryant, says the team can't be satisfied or the competition will catch up. They are focused on the state meet in Salem on February 21-22.
