A petition calling for the deportation of Justin Bieber has reached the number of signatures it needs to prompt an official response from the U.S. government.
The petition, listed at whitehouse.gov, has received more than 107,000 signatures since its creation last Thursday.
While the petition is likely to have little effect on Bieber's legal standing in the U.S., it does reveal a shift in attitude towards the 19-year old star, who was once one of the most popular singers in the country."
Deport Justin Bieber and revoke his green card
We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society.
Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach last Thursday, the same day the petition was made public, on a drunken driving charge after he was reportedly caught drag racing on a main thoroughfare in a rented Lamborghini, although details have surfaced since his arrest that suggest the singer may not have actually been speeding.
He's due for an arraignment on February 14, where he will face potential charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.
