WJTV News Channel 12 - Snow returns midweek

Snow returns midweek

Posted: Updated:
The first decent snow of the season is possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The current forecast shows moisture lifting into the region by late afternoon Wednesday continuing into the night before tapering off Thursday morning.  We look to see the snow arrive starting in the south by 5 p.m. and area wide by 8 p.m.  The snow will end from west to east on Thursday between 7 a.m. and noon.

The current forecast shows eastern West Virginia picking up one to two inches.  The Highlands, New River and Roanoke Valleys will see two to five inches with five to eight inches expected from the Blue Ridge eastward.

Computer models still show differences on where the heaviest snow will occur and small differences on timing.  Small changes in the track of the storm will cause the forecast to change.  As more information arrives, we will revise the forecast as needed.
