Dickenson County, VA -

A Clintwood, Va., man faces a first-degree murder charge, as well as other charges, after he reportedly rammed his vehicle into another vehicle in Dickenson County this past weekend, killing one woman and seriously injuring another woman.

Virginia State Police were called to the 18,000 block of Dickenson Highway just after 2:40 a.m. Sunday, where Sr. Trooper N.K. Woods found a Chevrolet Blazer that had been hit by a truck driven by Adam W. Stanley, 38, Clintwood, according to a VSP news release.

Stanley was not hurt, but the driver of the Blazer, Katrina L. Bartley, 37, Clintwood, was taken to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. Police determined that Bartley’s injuries were inconsistent with the crash. Her injuries were described as serious but not-life threatening.

Her passenger, Rachel N. Coleman, 33, Haysi, Va., died at the scene. Her body was taken to Roanoke, Va., for autopsy.

According to VSP, Stanley’s charges stem from his ramming the Blazer and the aggravated malicious wounding of Bartley.

Stanley was also charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and a felony count of destruction of property.

He was being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Haysi.

No other information was immediately available from VSP.
