TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Crohn's, colitis and celiac disease are on the medical forefront with estimated 1.4 million cases in the US. Now there is a ground breaking procedure offered in downtown Tampa.

A doctor known worldwide for being on the cutting edge of stem cell replacement therapy has a clinic in downtown Tampa, and people from all over come to the Tampa Bay Area for treatment.

"In my opinion stem cell therapy, gene therapy, nano-technology, tissue engineering all of which are currently present today are really the gift of life to millions of Americans," said Dr. Burton Feinerman of Regenerative Medicine Solutions.

For example, RMS offers a unique stem cell treatment that utilizes stem cells from a patient's own body for the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues in the intestines and colon.

For a patient Andrew Cioffi it was the only treatment that worked to cure a condition called ulcerative colitis, which left him weak, in pain and dealing with bouts of internal bleeding.

"Nothing has ever worked this is the only thing that has worked for me," said Cioffi.

Dr. Feinerman and his team of experts harvest a patient's stem cells from their own fat and then reintroduces the cells to the body in order to treat damaged tissue, disease or injuries.

For patients like Andrew Cioffi, who saw no improvement after trying the conventional treatment of prescription drugs with dangerous side affect, stem cell replacement therapy was his last chance of turning his health around.

"It feels like I'm cured because I don't take any of the medicine I used to, I don't see my gastro doctor , I just live life the way I did before." Cioffi said.

Here's a list of some of the other diseases and conditions treated at RMS:

Autoimmune Conditions
Celiac Disease
