Hinds County Mourns The Loss Of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba

WJTV's, Ross Adams, is at a meeting of the Hinds County Board of Supervisors this morning. The Board is honoring Mayor Chokwe Lumumba and his memory.

In a news release sent to WJTV News Channel 12, officials are offering their condolences to the Lumumba family and the residents of the City of Jackson.

Statement from Hinds County Board of Supervisors:
On behalf of the Hinds County Board of Supervisors - President Darrel McQuirter, Vice President Peggy Hobson Calhoun, Supervisor Robert Graham, Supervisor Tony Greer, and Supervisor Kenneth Stokes and the Hinds County family, we extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the Lumumba family and the City of Jackson officials, employees, and citizens.  We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba.  He was an insightful visionary and strong leader in our community.  He will be sorely missed.  Please know that Hinds County stands ready to assist in any way possible.
