Jackson continues to mourn the loss of Mayor Chokwe Lumumba.
Wednesday evening, more than 100 people gathered at Smith Park to remember the late mayor. They burned candles, sang songs, and prayed for Mayor Lumumba and his family.
They also discussed the mayor's legacy, having only been in office for seven months. Many believe he brought Jackson together like never before.
"At one point in time, we just got to come together," says Tyson Jackson. "Whatever God the people pray to, if there's something that's in your heart, let it be known. Speak to the people. Speak to God. We need healing. We all need to come together as one.
The group says Lumumba will be remembered not only for his work as a city leader but also as a powerful attorney.
