Lord Botetourt Punches Ticket to State Final Four

Posted: Updated:

It's been a special year at Lord Botetourt--from Coach Jamie Harless's near flawless football season--to the boys basketball team clinching a spot in the state final four..for the first time in school history last night.

The Cavs are 23-2 behind ten seniors who have played together since they were little.  Coach Chad Conner's gang took out Heritage in the region semifinals last night to advance to the region final Friday night in Rustburg. They'll get Spotswood in a rematch of one of their only losses this year.   And for this group it's been about learning how to win when the game is on the line. They have tackled every challenge this season, including avenging one of their two losses to William Fleming. The other loss was by eleven to Spotswood early in the year. The rematch comes Friday night, for the 3A West Region title, and the right to host the state semifinal in Salem.

Senior Guard Justin Goode eclipsed 1000 points earlier this year. Click here to see the story.

He went on to snap a quarter century old school record career mark last week.  But the Cavaliers have more than a half dozen threats who can go double digits on you at any given time.
