Titans Oliver Learning the Basketball Business at Radford

Posted: Updated:

Abby Oliver's basketball life has been more about competition--than business. But now the former Hidden Valley and University of Richmond star is seeing a different side to the sport. As she nears the end of her first year as Director or Basketball operations at Radford, the former Titans state champion admits she is learning a lot. The head coach at Radford is someone she is well acquainted with. Coach Mike McGuire and Oliver have spent the past seven years together..from the Titans to the University of Richmond, where Oliver starred and McGuire was an assistant coach.  Now McGuire is the head coach at Radford, and it is up to Oliver to make sure everything runs smoothly--road trips, meals, and team schedules are just scratching the surface. Her head coach gives her high marks--he says they have had no issues, and that she is learning the job in a hurry. Meanwhile Oliver would like to springboard this experience into a coaching job--at some level, in the future. For now, a former Hidden Valley championship combination is working to turn a Radford program around that needed a fresh start.
