FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Police have charged a man with intentionally starting a fire at a law office in Fayetteville on Sunday.

Mark Elliott Freeman, 47, is charged with burning of certain building, failure to heed to light or siren, and driving while license is revoked.

Freeman was arrested in connection with a fire that occurred around 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the front door of the Law Offices of Lila Washington and Marshall Pitts at 117 Person St.

He is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond.

Police are also investigating two other suspicious fires set Sunday in Fayetteville.

The second fire was set at the base of the Martin Luther King Memorial at Washington Drive and Blue Streets around 6:15 p.m. Police say the fire appeared to have been started with a flammable liquid.

And a third fire also took place at 300 Facility Dr. around 1:15 a.m. Fire investigators are looking into that fire as being suspicious. An earlier report indicated that single-family home was undergoing remodeling and no one was home at the time of the fire.
