On Monday, SPCA Florida rescued 14 Manatee County Animal Services dogs which otherwise would be euthanized at 5 p.m.
MCAS Spokesman Kris Weiskopf said the county shelter is at capacity due to the recent Napier’s Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary raid. The Napier’s animals have created a space issue at MCAS, forcing other healthy, adoptable pets on the euthanasia list.
Chief of Animal Care and Medical Services Adam Lamb said SPCA Florida is once again responding to the needs of animals throughout the state by transferring out the five remaining dogs on MCAS’ euthanasia list as well as additional dogs to help create additional space.
Lamb anticipates some of the Manatee County dogs will be available for adoption as soon as Tuesday. Adoption fees for these dogs range from $60 to $150. All pets are up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed or neutered.
