Hokies welcome Buzz to Cassell

BLACKSBURG - From the moment he walked in you could tell he's a guy who can captivate a room.  For his entire life that room has been a gym.  The past six years that room has been the hardwood haven at Marquette.

But now after five NCAA tournaments in six seasons, including a final eight appearance- Buzz Williams comes to Blacksburg for the challenge of being a builder not a caretaker.

The Hokies..needed a rebuild..not a remodel, and new athletic director Whit Babcock understood that. He needed to take a big swing.   And suffice to say...he connected.

Now comes the transition period in a league that doesn't allow a lot of ramp up time.  One player--starting freshman forward Trevor Thompson has been granted his release.  But the rest of the team in attendance..is re-energized...for the future.

And when the legends are there you take notice.

Bimbo Coles 14-year pro career included playing for Pat Riley in Miami, And he's sold on the direction and the work ethic--not just the charisma--of the Hokies new coach.
