RALEIGH, N.C. - A Wake County man facing terrorism charges went before a judge Tuesday in Federal Court.

Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Akba Jihad Jordan's apartment.

A Federal criminal complaint says Avin Brown and Jordan had plans to kill non-Muslims in Syria or Yemen.

During that search last week, agents found an AK-47 assault rifle, swords and other weapons.

During Tuesday’s court appearance, Magistrate Judge James E. Gates told Brown he had a right to a detention hearing, but Brown waived that right.

Brown will remain in custody until a trial date is set. Judge Gates accepted Brown’s waiver and he was escorted to his cell.
