Study Suggests Stress May Lead to Infertility

Posted: Updated:
A study done at Ohio State says women with the highest levels of stress decrease their probability of getting pregnant by nearly 30 percent.

Researchers followed about 400 couples for up to a year as the couples tried to conceive.  By the end of the study, the women who had high levels of a certain stress biomarker had a two-fold increased risk of infertility.  The researchers didn’t investigate why stress may lead to infertility, but they say to keep in mind that the study shows associations, not causes.

The study was published in the journal, Human Reproduction.  You can read it here.
